HAZWOPER

  • Awareness, Operations and Technician Training
  • Meets and Exceeds OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120

Our training program is fully compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). We can provide basic Awareness training or training to be part of a Chemical Emergency Response Team. OSHA requires a minimum of 24 hours for technician level and an 8 hour refresher annually. Students will receive manuals and hand-outs to keep for future references.

KIST has an Indoor Hot Zone © that contains a Chemical Storage Area filled with totes and drums, an Ammonia Release Room, and a 12’ x 4’ three stage decon area. Our instructional methods include classroom and extensive hands-on training. Every student will don Level A and respond to an ammonia release, clean up a spill or perform a rescue in the Hot Zone. Every student will also don Level B or C and perform decontamination in the Warm Zone. Scenarios will be reviewed and evaluated.

Successful completion of a written exam and practical exercises is required for certification.
